Two very differents films from very different times.

  • King of the Hill (1993)

This is a story of a 12-year-old boy who is left on his own by his family during the Great Depression in USA. While their family is trying to earn enough money to survive and reunite the family, this young boy tries to survive in his family's rooms in the Empire Hotel (and ends up learning a lesson or two). It's a really interesting story with great characters. The acting and production design are amazing, everything seems so real. It touches your heart because it's about how the kid learns and grows through his (extremely tough) experiences.

  • La Grande Bellezza (2013)

On his 65th birthday and after a shock from the past, Jep Gambardella (a roman writer) enters a quest of finding beauty and the meaning of life. The story is set in Rome and every single shot of it is breathtaking, there is a deep and elegant atmosphere that helps building the story.  Every actor is insanely good but especially Toni Servillo. The story is wonderfully told through dialogues, music and images, it's about the journey and life of this old man who finds himself trapped in his own life.. It's poetry in form of cinema. Don't miss it.
